Commemoration Of "152nd Birth Anniversary Of Mahatma Gandhi" On 3rd October At INDBATT,UNIFIL

In order to commemorate the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and observe the International Day of Non-violence, Indian Battalion (INDBATT), UNIFIL organized an event at Mahatma Gandhi Park, Ebel el Saqi, South Lebanon paying homage to the “Father of the Nation”.

The prominent dignitaries who are graced the occasion were, Ambassador of India to Lebanon Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, HOM and FC UNIFIL Major General Stefano Del Col, Mayor of Ebel El Saqi Mr. Samih Ek Bekai, SE CO Brig Gen Javier Mur Lalaguna and Rep of LAF Intel Col Ali Ismail. The Commanding Officers of respective battalions and army personnel from UNIFIL, Officers from Embassy of India and local civilians were also present in this august gathering.

The event commenced with the releasing of Doves and balloons to spread the message of spreading love, peace and non-violence. It was followed by speeches of the Mayor of Ebel El Saqi, Force Commmander UNIFIL and the Ambassador. All the speakers emphasized on the relevance of the noble thoughts of the Mahatma time and again across the world.

The event turned out to be a successful one with comendable participation from other UNIFIL Officers and local civilians.
