Atal Bihari Vajpeyee General Scholarship Scheme 2023-24

Kindly note that due to technical reasons the date of opening of ICCR A2A Portal for admissions has been postponed from 20 February 2023 to 6 March 2023. Other terms are conditions remain same.

 

Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholarships offered under Atal Bihari Vajpeyee General Scholarship Scheme (A12O1) [formerly: General Scholarship Scheme(A1201] for the AY 2023-24

 

ICCR announced ONE (01) slot for Lebanon out of 613 scholarship slots under Atal Bihari Vajpeyee General Scholarship Scheme (A12O1) [formerly: General Scholarship Scheme(A1201)] at Indian Universities / Institutes in the academic year 2023-24. The admission applications from interested students for academic year 2023-24 are invited online through ICCR's A2A Scholarship Portal http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in from 20th February, 2023.

 

The A2A Scholarship Portal is operational from 20th February, 2023 for foreign students to apply for admission.

 

The last date of submission of applications on A2A Portal is 30 April, 2023.

 

Last date of Universities to inform the decision (if confirmed, intimation to Mission; if rejected, intimation to students)

-31 May 2023.

 

Last date of acceptance by students- 15 July, 2023

 

Based on the number of acceptances in the first round (if acceptanc4es are less than the scholarship seats allocated) Indian Mission to offer scholarship to other students who were not considered in the first round – 22 July, 2023

 

Second-round students to convey their acceptance.- 30 July, 2023

 

 

Applicants will have the option to apply to 5 Universities / Institutes in the order of their preference of study. The admission, as far as possible, shall be given as per applicant's preference. However, there may be a situation when students do not get admission in their preferred Universities/Institutes due to limited number of seats on offer.

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSFor AY 2023-24, a 500-word essay in English has been introduced to ascertain English Proficiency. Besides, students can also submit their TOFEL/ IELTS etc. Standardised Test scores, if available. ICCR is also requesting Universities/Institutes to conduct interview of applicants online, if so required.

 

Rejected candidates will be intimated by Universities.

 

Interested students are advised to visit university / institute website and do thorough research of courses offered, eligibility criteria and general information about the university / institute before applying for admission.

 

The students should ensure that they are eligible for the course and meet the eligibility criteria and should submit relevant documentation as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. They should always refer to the Universities Handbook / University Grants Commission's website and the concerned university / institute's website for eligibility criteria etc. Applicants may need to apply for equivalence certificates from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at the link https://evaluation.aiu.ac.in/student/login and bear the fees incurred on obtaining the certificate at own expense (non-reimbursable). The scholarship slot include return economy class air-fares to the nearest airport and 03rd AC Train fare to the place of study, if so required.

 

ICCR has introduced disbursement of all scholarship payment to students through PFMS as per Government of India guidelines on direct payment to beneficiaries.

 

It may be noted that for BE / B. Tech courses, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) are compulsory in 11 and 12 grades of schooling and it is a mandatory requirement for Engineering courses. In Biology-based science subjects, students should have studied Biology, Physics and Chemistry in high school. Mark sheets for each i.e., level 10 and 10+2 level of school be uploaded along with the transcripts in English.

 

The application will not be considered without English translation of documents if the original documents are not in English. It may also be noted that incomplete application will be summarily rejected by universities if documents are not in English or English translation is not provided. Students are advised to thoroughly check their applications and attach requisite documents before submission of the application.

 

For admission in Under Graduate (UG) level courses, it is compulsory to have 10+2 I.e. 12 years of schooling.

 

2. Age : Applicants should have attained a minimum age of 18 years at the time of admission in Indian Universities / Institutes and not more than 30 years of age and for Ph.D. Courses, it is up to 45 years of age.

3. The Council does not arrange admission in Medical/ Paramedical (Nursing / Physiotherapy / Anaesthesia etc.) / Fashion /LAW courses/integrated courses such as BALLB (5 years)/B Sc & Msc (5 years).

 

4. Incidental charges : Please note that for science courses/ the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars themselves.

 

5. Medical Insurance : Compulsory Personal Medical Insurance is a mandatory requirement for availing of ICCR's scholarship. It is compulsory for all ICCR scholarship students to procure Medical Insurance policy with minimum sum assured for Indian Rupees 5,00,000/- (Indian Rs. Five Lakhs) per annum. Applicants are advised that to ensure, they must have medical insurance coverage on their own either before travel or immediately after reaching India, whatever is convenient to students. Students can purchase medical insurance from any of the insurance companies of their choice. However to facilitate students, A2A Portal has two insurance companies for referral purpose as given below:

Applicants are advised to be aware of the change in medical insurance policy. ICCR has uploaded the revised norms on its A2A Portal.

 

6. Familiarization with India : It is essential for the applicants to have a realistic assessment of India, and of the living conditions in the country's educational institutions. ICCR may amend some provisions of scholarships from time to time and it is incumbent on students to accept the revised norms.

 

7. Accommodation and Security : ICCR advises students to stay in hostel, if available. However, students are allowed to stay in private accommodation if the concerned institute does not insist on staying in their hostel.

 

8. Detailed Information : Detailed guidelines on the process of applying for ICCR Scholarships online on the A2A Portal and the procedure and norms governing the same is given on the www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in

 

9. Undertaking: All students departing to India for ICCR Scholarships must submit an undertaking in the given Proforma that they have understood the “Guidelines for International students under ICCR Scholarships”
