Dancing Divas

The Embassy of India organized three fusion dance performances entitled “Dancing Divas”, featuring the renowned dance group Gurukul Dubai. On 4th September, the performance was organized in collaboration with the Mayor of Saida, in the Saida Municipality’s auditorium, in front of 250 people. The performance on 6th September was organized in collaboration with the Union of Tyre Municipalities in the city of Tyre. On 5th September, the “Dancing Divas” was performed in Le Royal Hotel, Beirut, at a gala dinner by the poolside to mark the inauguration of Indian Food Week.

In all three “Dancing Divas” performances, the Gurukul Dubai troupe led by award winning dancer Pali Chandra presented a colourful, vibrant and graceful depiction of the Kathak and Bharatanatyam styles of Indian dance, with modern-day choreography, set to the lilt of ghazals and thumris from Bollywood films.
