 We are pleased to inform you that CII Tamil Nadu Technology Development & Promotion Centre (TNTDPC) is organizing AUTO IP SUMMIT on 10 August 2018 at Hotel Westin,Chennai with the theme of “IP (Intellectual Property) Challenges and Opportunities in Automobile Industry”.

Session Focus :
 Technology in the automotive sector is evolving faster than ever before. This poses challenges for automakers, materials, component, and manufacturing equipment suppliers. Automotive technical intelligence and intellectual property can help automakers and suppliers protect their market position and identify additional revenue streams through competitive benchmarking and patent licensing negotiation.

In this background, Auto IP Summit will provide a platform to:

•          Discuss about various Auto IoT platform and how IP plays in different models

•          Identify various licensing challenges companies can expect

•          Discuss about IP threats for auto sector

•          Showcase Best Practices to enforce design

The programme will include the following sessions:

·            Plenary Session I: The world in your car- IP Aspects in connected and autonomous Vehicles     

While the development of connected and autonomous technology undoubtedly presents a plethora of business opportunities, the velocity at which it is developing and the evolving global landscape, poses a number of challenging IP issues. The session will discuss on key IP Challenges, securing open source software, shifting market and brand positioning.

·            Plenary Session II: IP threats and collaboration

Counterfeiting goods are serious threat to the industry. Enhancing IP Protection at every level is important. The experts will discuss on due diligence strategies at Supply chain and cracking down counterfeiting products in IP perspective. The session will discuss on the challenges faced by auto component manufacturers as they look for acquisitions. The session will also throw light on the complexities of Standard Essential Patents(SEPs) and FRAND Licensing.

·            Plenary Session III: Future of IP Litigation in Auto Industry

Increase in patent filings is an indicative of technological innovation. However, with that innovation comes increased patent litigation risk. The session will throw light on the trending litigation and future risks for the industry.

·            Panel Discussion: The Impact of IP protection on Auto R&D

In the new technological era, one important form of commercial collaboration between competitors is research and development ("R&D"). The panel will discuss on open innovation in R&D and IP rights.
