Seminar on "Gandhian Principles in the Indian Constitution" at Elite Center of Culture and Education, Tripoli on 19 February 2020

Embassy of India, Beirut, in collaboration with Elite Center of Culture and Education, Tripoli, organized a seminar on "Gandhian Principles in the Indian Constitution" on 19 February 2020.

 

2. The programme began with opening remarks by Ambassador of India to Lebanon, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, welcoming the audience and highlighting specific provisions pertaining to Gandhian values in the Indian Constitution.

 

3. Ambassador highlighted various features of the Indian Constitution and how these have been influenced by the Gandhian Principles of non-violence, equality, search for truth. Ambassador also highlighted Constitutional Duties of the citizens.

 

4. Dr. Imane Kamali, Director of the Elite Center spoke on Gandhi and his ideals. She also spoke about intensifying cooperation between India and Lebanon.

 

5. The event included a painting exhibition on Gandhi by members of the Lebanese Artists Association- painters and Sculptors (LAAPS). A poem on Gandhi by the renowned Lebanese poet Jawdat Haydar was also recited during the event.

 

6. It was followed by an Indian dance performance by Lebanese students attending the dance classes conducted by Embassy of India.

 

7. The event concluded by inauguration of “India Corner” in the Elite Centre Library.
