Public Celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Park in Ebl al-Saqi, South Lebanon

Embassy of India, Beirut joined the brave soldiers of Indian Battalion [5 Assam Infantry Battalion Group: INDBATT-XIX] led by Commanding Officer Colonel Santosh Kumar Tripathi in celebrating 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Mahatma Gandhi Park in Ebl al-Saqi, South Lebanon on 2 October 2018.

The dignitaries joining the event included UNIFIL Sector East Commander Brig-Gen Jose Luis Sanchez Martínez-Falero; local dignitaries and UNIFIL officers. Awards were distributed to the special children of Hasbaya Center for Care and Development of Dar al Aytam who participated in a competition organized by Indian Battalion. As part of the programme, commemorative stapms received from Department of Post, Government of India, were also released.

On the same day, Ambassador Sanjiv Arora released video of the renowned Lebanese singer Ms. Abeer Nehme singing ‘ VAISHNAV JAN TO TENE KAHIYE JE’- a devotional song in Gujarati at UNP 4-2 Indian Battalion, as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
