Signing of an MOU between Irfan Establishment and Apollo Group

Ambassador of India to Lebanon Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan, along with Mr P. Pattabhi, Second Secretary ( Commercial) and Ms Rana Zaitouni, Commercial Assistant at the Embassy visited Ifran Establishment on April 23. During their visit they were received by Sheikh Nazir, President of the Establishment and other officer bearers.

 

Ifran Establishment is one of the largest NGOs in Lebanon and is working in the fields of Education , Health and Social welfare working under the Patronage of H.E. Mr Walid Jumblatt, senior politician and leader of Druze communities in Lebanon. They run 5 Schools with more than 5000 students and one Hospital.

 

During the visit, the Ambassador was given a tour of one of the Schools and the Irfan Hospital. The Ambassador also visited the special Covid care facility being set up at the Hospital.

 

The Ambassador also witnessed signing of an MOU between Irfan Establishment and Apollo Group of Hospitals from India. The MOU was recently finalised with the help of the Embassy and will facilitate telemedicine, training of doctors from Irfan Establishment by experts from Apollo group and also transfer of patients to India for critical care and sophisticated medical treatment.

 

The Ambassador also visited the Museum set up by the Establishment and paid his homage of Mahatma Gandhi whose statue has been kept in the Museum. Sheikh Nazir, President of the Establishment also recalled Late Kamal Jumblatt' s fondness for India and many trips he made to India in 1960s and 1970s.
